distress ink merry christmas

Well I'm back to day with a few spare moments and a card!! Pretty good combo if you ask me (or anyone who's home with young kids I'm sure)

When I started this card all I know is that I wanted to use these 3 colours (cracked pistachio, peacock feathers and twisted citron) All I can say is I fell in love and made more. For this card I used the acetate technique to get the colour on then added some colour splatters. By far my favourite look! I also tried direct paint onto water colour paper and and actual ink blending. They all have their own unique look but I really do just love this one! A little messy with lots of texture.

Before I did any of the water colouring I first heat embossed the merry in white so it would resist the ink! Once i got the card how I wanted it (and it was dry) I added the christmas. Threw on some snowflakes I had on my table and of course some pretty pink posh goodness. After it was all said and done felt like something was missing so I added a small strip of silver paper adhered it to the card front and there you have it!!

Thanks all for today! Hope you enjoyed!

merry wishes

Another card for you today!!! And I got to say I'm sooo in love with the Simon Says Stamp Jumbo stripes set! It is so fun and versatile!

I just did a "simple" plaid background here using my most fav dye inks from Wplus9 (glala red, green leaf and warm wool). I had originally thought after I had die cut out the deer that I wanted to use a silver paper in behind but the place was just so simple and eye catching that I left it as was!!

To finish off the card I then die cut 3 merry's out adhered them all together and then stamped wishes under neath!! I plan on making some more of this card using some other colours from my pallet I think! I just love the boldness of it!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hope you enjoyed todays card!!

Cheers to the new year!

Happy Monday everyone!! Hope you all had a great weekend!! I was at crop this weekend (being the newbie I got lots of Christmas cards done). Heres one of my creations!

My goal over the weekend was to use at least 75% of the christmas stamps I had packed and brought with me!! I actually accomplished this goal and here is one of the cards to prove it!! The background I used the Wplus9 strictly sentiments 8. I picked 3 of the sentiments from it lined them up on my block and repeat stamped them diagonal on the panel using fairy dust ink. My original plan was to use another sentiment from the same set on the front. I decided against it cause in my mind it was to small! So instead I used twenty fifteen (which was an little extra something added to my last wplus9 order for #sharehandmadekindess). I decided to white heat emboss on black for that added boldness…but before adhering it I added some silver thread. Once that was all done I popped up the stamped panel onto a pink card base! Non traditional seems to be my go to during the holidays!! And last but not least I added some Pretty Pink Posh sequins to finish it off!!

And there you have it!! I hope you enjoy and thanks so much for stopping by!!

Merry

Hello again!! And welcome here! So if any of you follow me on instagram  I put up a couple days ago some backgrounds I was working on with embossing paste an awesome Echopark Paper stencil and of course my favourite inks for some added fun from Wplus9. Heres how they turned out!!

Heres the collection of 6 I made!! Think there might be more in the works! Maybe try out some other holiday word dies for kicks!!

These two I think are my favourite colour I made…however they are all lovely! And I tend to be on the more non tradition side of Christmas cards!

And heres a closer look at them. I stacked up the Merry dies with 3 die cuts of course added some wink of stella then covered it in glossy accents. The scribble behind the merry is from Papertrey ink. Once I had ti all together I knew that there was still a little something  missing…so out came the Pretty Pink Posh sequins, I used the 4mm sparkling clear cup side down so they looked more like gems. Got that trick from Jennifer McGuire!

These are my cards for today!! Thank you so much for stopping by!!!

bridesmaid fun

Hey Everyone! Hope you're having a great week! Todays cards are a custom creation I made for my soon to be sister in law! Yup took my brother a while, but he finally popped the question this summer!!! And of course I jumped on board to help her out to ask those special peeps to share in their special day!!!

I had so much fun creating these cards! She sent me a few thoughts on what she wanted and let me run with an idea without even seeing them till they were done!!! Im seriously in love with the Jumbo Stripes stamp set from Simon Says Stamp! Its sooo versatile and good for many different things! In our discussions she told me that she wanted flowers. And I love flowers and have many sets….if its possible to have to many I might! ;) but for the vision I had in  my head I went with the classic Wplus9 Fresh cut Florals. After I finally got the flowers all arranged as I wanted I added some Pretty Pink Posh sequins to give it that little extra sparkle that it needed!!! And here you have it!!! Just love how they turned out!

And of course Jennifer McGuire has her #sharehandmadekindness challenge going on! How fun is this that they get to be double shared!!

Thank you so much for stopping by today!!!!

cutting room floor

Hey Everyone, hope you're having a great week so far! Todays card I made a while back for the Pretty Pink Posh to be a guest designer. I wasn't chosen (but that won't stop my from trying again another time).

When I applied for the designer spot she had given 4 cards as inspiration to use! I picked a Joni Andaya cause really who doesn't love her work! Completely stunning all the time!!!

So heres my "cutting room floor" card if you will!! I just love how it turned out!!!

plaid winter wonderland

Happy Tuesday everyone!! So I'm finally pulling out the holiday cards! I've had some made for awhile now but it just seemed to early even tho everyone has put out their new holiday releases.

I can't get enough of the Simon Says Stamp jumbo stripes stamp set! Its so much fun to use and so versatile. I love that you can go diagonal on a card! So thats what I did here! For the colour pallet I used my favourite dye inks from Wplus9 (last leaf, appletini, coconut husk, warm wool, cranberry crush)..I've also be waiting to play with the Tim Holtz scribbly christmas set too, and thought it would look so good embossed in liquid platinum embossing powder!! I also used that for the sentiment too!! Love how it turned out and I sure hope you enjoy too!!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

challenge among friends

Hey Everyone! Thanks so much for stopping by!! Todays card is brought to you by a challenge my friend Natashas husband put out to us (we craft via texting…one of those fabulous friends that lives to far away). His challenge was one person pick a stamp set (we both have) and the other person pick the colour combo. Not to mention this fits perfectly in with the Wplus9 Throwback challenge...

Natasha decided that we use Wplus9 spring blooms and fanciful feathers for the sentiment. And I chose the colour combo; smokey slate, night of navy, soft sky,  lost lagoon and pistachio pudding (all Stampin Up! colours)

It was a super fun challenge to do, think we will be giving it a whirl again sometime soon!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!!

fall love

Hello everyone! Thanks for stopping by today! Here in Canada we just celebrated Thanks giving and so I thought I would share this card for you that screams fall!!!

I made this card on world card making day with some new goodies I got!! That background fancy leaves stamp from Impression Obsession. I saw it and imagined this card in my head!! I just love how it turned out and always fun to mush distress inks on a stamp and spritz with water for a somewhat controlled water colour effect!!

I hope you enjoy and thanks so much for stopping by!!

emboss resist anniversary

I had a great mail day yesterday…one of the items being the new Simon Says Stamp Card Kit for the month of October  . I Had a plan with the heart but it kind of morphed into this card instead! Kind of fun just to let creativity flow!

I knew I wanted to do some water colouring so I decided to use some versa fine black in so I could clear emboss over it!! I had originally only stamped 3 hearts but once I got going I just couldn't stop I guess! :) Happens to the best of us when the creative juices are flowing!

I wanted the card to be bold. Think I accomplished that but that being said it was to bold to just have my die cut happy directly over the painted heart areas. I wanted all that pretty colour to still show through so why not pull out the vellum and add the die cut over top!!

I hope you enjoy todays creation! And make sure to check out the Simon Says Stamp Flickr challenge (tomorrow might be your last day for the emboss resist however!)

Thanks so much for stopping by today!!

CAS(E) #141

Good day everyone!! Hope you're all doing well! I have a card for you today that was brought on by CAS(E) This sketch and the colour combo was from my friend Natasha! I had shown her all the new Wplus9 inks. I had just stamped them all out to check out the range of colour and she found a combo and asked me if I would make a card using it!! Here is my creation!!

Well with just getting the new inks and this fabulous leaf set (autumn leaves) in the mail I knew that I needed to become this sketch!!

Before I started anything I die cut the square (from stitched square stax) and placed it on my card where I thought I wanted it. I then traced around it to help me know where to stamp the leaves so they would show up behind the square!

Once that was done I started with the outlined leaves, stamped both images. Once they were stamped I then went onto the solid image. I wanted ti to be offset so you could really see the outline of the leaves as well! Once that was done it still didn't seem finished to me so I then added the smaller leaf images to it!

For the sentiment I die cut the blessed die 3 times out of white card stock. I wanted it to be the Falling for Blue ink (and seriously such a beauty that one) so I smushed the ink pad over one if the dies before gluing them together! Of course its also covered in some wink of stellla cause who doesn't love some glitter. For the rest of the sentiment I cut up one from the doodle buds set and stamped around where the blessed die cut could be.

Of course I popped up the square with the sentiment, cut the panel down and then mounted it on a white card base! Thats my card for today! I really hope you enjoy!

(other inks used were pumpkin spice, wild mango and warm wool all by Wplus9)

Thanks so much for stopping by!!

Striped thanks

Heres a card I made for the PTI Stamp-A-Faire a few weeks ago.  Just didn't get a chance till now to post

This was from Laura Bassens sting challenge. Had a lot of fun with this card! I took the super stripes border dies from Papertrey Ink and placed them all in a row on block. I then inked them with versa mark ink and stamped my way along the front panel. Once that was complete I then took some Hero Arts white embossing powder covered the panel tapped it off then zapped it with my heat gun! Once it dried I grabbed some distress inks and started blending (lost lagoon, peacock feathers, tumbled glass and cracked pistachio) Once it was all blended I just added a few water droplets to the front of the panel and soaked them up with a paper towel! while I was waiting for that to fully dry I die cut 3 of the thanks dies and glued them all together and went over it with some distress ink as wellI had some spiced marmalade on my fingers which transferred to the word then I added some picked raspberry as well! Fun how those mishaps end up looking so sharp! Once that I was done I next took some silver DMC thread and unraveled it onto the card front..I played with it for a bit to make it look "messy" then glued my word die down over top and of course added some Pretty Pink Posh sequins to the front as well! Attached it all to a card base and thats how she got done!!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you enjoy my card even if its a little later then the original challenge!!!

Have a beautiful day (august pin sites challenge)

The last few days Ive had some time to go and create…most cause my kids were out playing in the dirt pile before it disappeared (if you follow me on Instagram you would have seen the pics!)

I was in need of some inspiration and Ellen Hutson was posting pics from their latest challenge and some fabulous cards out there I tell you! August Pin Sites challenge! So heres my take on it!

When I started this card I pulled out the colours from the challenge…started with the pink, stamped 3 of the bigger flowers (Bold Blooms) then the yellow and the leaves thrown in there to fill in the spots! I knew I wanted to do the vellum overlay but with just the stamped image it wasn't enough (in my minds eye). So I had out my ink blending tools and just added some of the same colour to the just in a lighter way to  each of the flowers and leaves. I then adhered the vellum panel over top with some stick it paper stamped the sentiment and after those 2 pieces were together I trimmed down the panel to 4 wide and the regular 5.5 long. found some fun paper for the side (it came in one of the simon says stamps card kits) added some  Pretty Pink Posh sequins on top the vellum and was completely happy with the final project!

Sorry for the long ramble! Hope you enjoy!!

Hugs

So heres the last card I put together while on holidays this summer…if you've not noticed from the last 3 posts I was most defiantly on a black sentiment kick!! haha! Just so crisp and clean!

One of the girls I had my craft day with made a background with these beautiful Ellen Hutson stamps…so I figured I might do the same!! Pulled out my favourite Wplus9 inks and started random stamping. Wasn't sold on it till I added the PTI hugs die over top! Why don't I own that set! (thanks for sharing with me tho Natasha!) Anyway a pretty simple card that came together quick! I sure hope you enjoy!!

Wish Big

Heres another one I did on vacation…yup was in a total ink blending mode for sure…

When I started this card I really didn't have any idea where it would end up! I first stamped the linen background stamp in kraft. Just wanted to do some layers I suppose. Then came out the ink blending. Did a little bit bolder with the colours then on the last card I did. once I was done with the inking I just fell in love with it! Was so textured for a only being one layer! I then decided to die cut the wish, did that 3 times to bump it up a little added some DMC thread under and glued it all down. Of course had to add some glossy accents over top…debated stamping the big on there but happy I did! Just a super simple card to create with lots of dimension!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

wishing

While I was away on vacation I was able to craft with a couple of my favourite people!!! Was so nice to be together and create away! Thankfully we can text now a days and its kinda like being together!! Heres one of the creations I made!

My original thought with this background stamp was to water colour…till we were all sitting around the table with "limited" supplies and non of us had brought any versa mark, embossing powered or the heat gun for that matter…so Had dot take a different approach! Stamped this bad boy in some ranger archival ink and did some ink blending. The inks used for this card are PTI…wanted to try them out as I don't own any! And they blend very lovely together….Cause the background is so busy wanted to keep the rest of the card simple…wrapped the card front in some vellum and stamped the sentiment on it…then die cut wishing a few things to make it pop up a bit. Of course there needed to be some sequins on there to just for a bit of shimmer!!

It was an easy card that came together. I did another one exactly the same but used the sending die and a different sentiment instead!!

Hope you enjoy! Thanks so much for popping in!

blessed

Hey everyone! I'm back after a way to long of break!! We are now all moved in and pretty much settled into our new house!! And got to say it feels so good to be back to crafting! Wasn't to sure how it would go! Well if I'm being honest I sure did get a lot of glue all over the place!!

This card is made for the Clean and Simple stamping blog. Make sure you go check it out cause we would sure love to see what you create!!

I really wanted to keep this card simple and I soooo wanted to use the new sketched roses background stamp from Impression Obsession. I stamped tone on tone for the back ground then added a little side panel with pink on white…wasn't to sure how it would turn out but I like it!! Die cut 3 blessed glued them together and of course had to add some glossy accents! Pretty straight forward card! Good one for my first in over a month I think!!

Anyway make sure to head on over to the clean and simple blog and show us your creations!!

Mothers Day shaker card fun

Hey everyone!! Well its getting closer to that special month where we celebrate all you wonderful moms out there!!!

So for years now I've been making cards for Academy Florists in Winnipeg MB. They have some wonderful ladies in there are beyond talented when it comes to flower arrangements!! I'm always so honoured they want to share my cards with their beautiful creations!!!

Mothers Day is a super buys time for them…heres a peek at one of the cards Ive recently made for the shop!!!

I recently jumped on the bandwagon of shaker cards and I can't seem to jump off!!! they are just so fun to do!!

This one was pretty easy to put together! Using that butterfly frame die from Wplus9. I stamped the sentiment on acetate using white stazon ink…my first time ever and I'm in love!!!! Will for sure be seeing more of that!!!

Once all the pieces were die cut stamped and glued together,  I added 2 layers of foam tape on the back on the shaker box part…filled it with some fun sequins. Once it was on the card I added the silver butterfly just for some added depth to it!! A pretty clean and simple yet interactive card!!!

spring thank you

Just thought I would post this quick little card I made…it ended up being a cute little square(ish) card cause I need to chop off the bottom half cause I wasn't happy with it…and didn't want to waste or start from scratch!

When making this card I also too a look on my desk to see if there was anything I could salvage. I had this grey cardstock already stamped with the pinstripes in a grey as well…so I took some scrap white card stock i had laying around and stamped the flowers and leaves!! Cut them out by hand arranged them on the card then did some stamping around it!! pretty easy peasy!!!

sending sunshine

I think spring is finally among us!! The snow is almost gone, lots of puddles for the kids to splash in…so I thought I would pull out this super cute set from Wplus9 to celebrate!!!

This card is not my typical go to kind of card but how could you not love all the elements used for it to come together!!!!  Originally I had used the stencil on the whole white piece but I really didn't like it going out onto the scalloped edge so I die cut that piece out!!! After I had done that the card just came together. I die cut the sunshine and inked some tumbled glass distress ink. I ended up having some of the yellow still on my fingers from the sunburst but the colour combo was just to pretty…I did the same mixture for the back panel as well!!! After the ink was on the sunshine I knew it needed some wink of stella, cause really what card doesn't need a little glitter!! I die cut the clouds out of white and vellum, however I only used the white ones for this card. I needed to decide on placement for all the pieces so I played around a bit…once I got everything just right I wanted that sunshine to stand out even more! I proceeded to die cut 3 more out and glue them all together. Once everything was adhered to the card I got out the good ol glossy accents, went over the sunshine as well as the cloud outlines!!! And thats pretty much all there is to this card!!!

partial die cut mom

Hey Everyone!! Hope everyones good today!! Here some more cards from the latest Online Card Class…I'm really liking these fun interactive cards!

It took  me a while to find the right die, in the video Julie Ebersole said that block letters work the best with this technique…however I don't have any big enough in my stash….but this one actually worked out really well, probably cause its all one  height. i did have to cut out the the space under the letters to make it proper tho!! (easy peasy with that good ol craft knife). I decided to use patterned paper for the card instead of stamping. I had an idea in  mind of how I wanted it to look and this was the easiest way for me to achieve that!!

Anyway hope you enjoy and I hope you had as much fun in class as I did!! Thanks for stopping by!!

botanical colouring

Happy weekend everyone!! I decided to take some me time and attempt to craft. Its been a while since I've had some dedicated time to do that. Got to say it feels good getting back at it again

For todays card I thought I would finally attempt to colour. Honestly this is my very first go at it. I'm sure with more practice I will get better!!! (or I hope to anyway)

Due to the fact I'm not a colourer, I don't really have many stamps that are good for doing so! I recently did a Wplus9 order and loved this botanical set!! Saw many possibilities (most with water colouring if I'm being honest) and knew it had to be added to my collection. I also knew that I wanted to pop up the bigger flowers….

I started off stamping the image and colouring the flowers then cut them out. After that I die cut the white card stock and restamped the image on there and proceeded to colour as well. Once that was all done I too the flowers I had cut out added some wink of stella to the middle and bumped them up with some foam tape. Once that was all together I then added some glossy accents…I also stamped the sentiment on there too!! Cant forget that! Once I completed the white panel I then die cut the black scalped edge piece added I then glued the white card stock to it. I went back and forth on a pink or purple card base and once that was decided I then popped up the black with some foam tape.

Considering it was my first time colouring the card all in all didn't take me to long to make!! And even tho my husband says it looks like a grandma card I'm pleased with the outcome!!! Hope you do to!

get well soon

Happy Monday crafters!! I've been a label making machine the past few days so I had all my die inks out. I decided to (avoid the fact that I've had no mojo) stamp the colours for swatches. Once I had done that I had a bag of these bigger blooms flowers all die cut and ready to go so I put together this cheerful colour pallet for this get well soon card!! Love how cheery it is!

Once  had all the die cut pieces stamped it took me a while to find an arrangement I liked. Like I said before theres been a lack of mojo lately. So I started playing around with a scrap rectangle stitched die I had laying around. And it all came together from there!! :)

Once I had the sentiment stamped I went and arranged the flowers next. After that part was done I knew I wanted to use this background stamp. A weaved basket look with flowers?? Oh yes please!! And in teal no less!! Just like that I was done this sunshiny happy get well card!!

Hope you all have a great day!

so grateful

Happy Saturday everyone!! Hope your day is well so far!! I had a few spare moments while my toddler napped. Pulled some inspiration from a couple places today. To start off Freshly made Sketches and for some colour I went to the Colour Me…! blog.

To get this card started I took a piece of the navy as well as the white paper cause I wasn't to sure which one I was going to use for the card front. But I knew once I inked those dots with the stencil this was the route I wanted to go!! So I taped down the navy card stock taped it down to my work surface then taped the stencil over top. I then took a sponge dauber with the same ink colour as the paper and went over it for that tone on tone look. Once that was done I cut a strip of white cardstock for the sentiment which I also stamped in the navy. Glued both these pieces down to a white card base. I die cut and stamped the feathers 2 with vellum and 2 out of white card stock and stamped again using the same blue for the feathers! I arranged them together then took some white bakers twine and tied them together adhering them with some glue dots.. and just cause took out the wink of stella pen and went over the feathers just for some added glitter. Thats it thats all! Came together much better then I pictured it in my head!! Love it when that happens!!

I love you

Todays card is brought to you by the Papertrey Ink 8th anniversary celebration!! Just loved todays cards and wanted to get in there and make something pretty too!!!

When I started this card all I knew for sure was that I wanted to use the watercolour wonder set to make my own painted background like the new paper coming out!! But thats all I had in mind. To come up with the colour combo I went over to the ColourQ blog to see what this weeks challenge was and the rest came together from there!!!

I stamped all my colours down the front panel of the card. Once I was done that I then die cut the heart out of the front panel. To ensure that I got the words inside the heart I traced the outline of the heart on with a pencil then stamped the sentiment inside the traced heart. Once I erased the pencil marks I popped  up the front panel with foam tape on a white card base I made. And called it good!

Hope you enjoyed!!
